Biking Canada

I flew to Calgary with my girlfriends bike. I had bought it for her in New York, she had bought mine in Chicago. We were doing a swap in Canada. We hadn’t seen the bikes we’d be riding for the next month but trusted then. Long Haul Truckers have that standing. We also brought our own seats.

It was an unusual circumstance, but not too weird for us. The year prior we had flown to Arcata and purchased a tandem bike we found on Craigslist. It didn’t fit right, but we made it work for the tour. Now here we were aiming for the Icefields Parkway. A stretch of the Rocky Mountains, roughly 200 miles of pure beauty. Glaciers and peaks and closed campgrounds. A land still exhibiting a fair share of snow in the early spring. A land we were all too fortunate to spend time in.
